Tailsampling processor support #214
Description
There is likely significant interest in Rotel supporting efficient tailsampling processors for traces. Particularly at scale, the resource utilization required to sample traces is a well known burden for many users. See discussion #213.
@mugli has offered to PoC an implementation. We've done some limited brainstorming internally are leaning towards potentially implementing as a pure Rust based processor. We should put together an RFC for tailsampling and share with the community to gather requirements and feedback for the specification before implementing.
We'll update this issue once we gather more data.
