Datagenerator not opening

Hello could you please explain a bit how to use Data generator, it didnt even open for me, it kind of tries but the application doesnt run. im on windows 11

data generator is a console based application that you have to run from a command line, it doesn't have any GUI (graphics user interface). in the tools repository readme you have a description for the arguments that you can pass to the datagenerator, for example --timecode (to stream packets with a timecode, preferable option) --open (choose a source *.cgi stream file to be used for the data generator) -n (for network packets stream), etc.

Hello Sergei Thank you for your response, I had to put a hold on this topic last year. Hope it is ok to ask you some questions now, I don't have much training on command prompts so I am thinking this is something that should be done on technocrane desk controls?. Let me explain what I am trying to achieve here since maybe these tools are not meant for what I want to do. I have a personal computer where I'm running unreal engine software, and would like to have something that emulates the movement of a crane so I can input that data back into the UE plug in, I don't have technocrane software installed on my computer, or a crane connected to it. So for what I understood on the readme file, the path that I need to input must to have a directory to a drive on my computer where I have the technocrane software?; Is there a way for me to instal the software to my computer to do so?; If not the case, is there a way I can achieved this emulated data stream into my computer so i can test the plugin? Hello Sergei Yes actually I am looking into some way I can simulate the data coming from Technocranes into unreal just for testing. I saw on the gift hub link the data generator application but I’m not familiar with console use, so if you could help me out just by explaining how to get started to start a stream of data I would appreciate it. yes, sure
First of all you have to save *.cgi data stream from technocrane desktop, that crane data can be used in data generator app for simulation
If you are not familiar how to run a console application from a command line, you can search that in internet, there should be a lot of articles and even youtube videos on how to use, for example, windows terminal
an example of command line
datagenerator.exe --open ".cgi" --timecode -n
where
--timecode is to stream with a timecode which is a recommended option
-n argument is to stream over the UDP network parkets, otherwise the COM port connection will be emulated
