Addon deactivated

After manually installing threadvis in thunderbird 139 or 138 it is marked as deactivated in setting. I can activate it for all folders in one account. But when I return to the emails its gets deactivated again. The addon icon is grey in the bottom line. I don't get threadvis to work.
Any ideas?

Sorry to hear. Hopefully, this should not be too hard to troubleshoot:

• Is this a fresh install of ThreadVis (i.e. never been installed before)?
• Which version are you using, 3.6.5?
• Can you please check the error console (via Tools - Developer Tools - Error Console) and paste any errors into this thread?
• What happens if you click the status bar icon? What reason is given that ThreadVis is deactivated?

1. Is' s not a freh install. But I unistalled it and did a reinstall manually.

2. Version is 3.6.5.

3. The Status Bar Icon is grey. It say activated for the account, deactivated for the directory. When i click on activate nothig happens. When I acivate the directory under setting it dpoes not accept the change. I can see noch given reason.

Same error with 3.6.6

I have the exact same behaviour (Account activated, Folder deactivated, changes get reset) on Fedora 42, thunderbird 140.3.0esr (64bit) and TV 3.6.9
I tried all TV versions down to 3.6.6 with remove and re-install, and disabling all other addons to no avail. No relevant errors in the console so far. TV was installed and worked before, but I migrated the profile from windows to linux. vated"

When I click "activated" in the icon right click menu, the console shows:

When I activate TV and switch to the inbox folder (f.e.), the icon says "Account activated, Folder activated", but as soon as I select a different mail, the Account is deactivated.

No problems on Windows 11, thunderbird 140.3.1esr (64bit) and TV 3.6.6 on a different machine

I found a solution for this problem:
In thunderbird extended settings extensions.threadvis.disabledfolders showed a lot of undefined entries and extensions.threadvis.disabledaccounts showed account1 account2 and so on. I deleted those entries and threadvis worked again.
However, if I deselect a folder in threadvis settings, it shows up under extensions.threadvis.disabledfolders as undefined, which is certainly not correct.

Ah, thanks for tracking this down further! You're completely right, undefined is certainly not correct. I'll check the code there, maybe there's an outdated attribute that's written to the preferences.

See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1949436, ThreadVis is using folderURL, so this is now undefined, both when setting a preference as well as when checking if a folder is activated/deactivated. And undefined == undefined, so disabling a single folder disables all folders.

Hopefully an easy fix, will try to get a version out that fixes this and ignores existing undefined entries in preferences.
