If the only required fix is to bump the version number in the manifest, would it be an option to distribute a special version with a glob instead?

Just released version 3.6.12 for Thunderbird 145.

And yes, I kinda like the idea of a "use-at-you-own-risk" special version with a * glob for strict_max_version - as most of the time it's really just about bumping the version. I'll see how I can mark this version and how to maintain it then along the "normal" releases.

Note: I am still working on converting as much of the code as possible to a WebExtension, thus making it back to addons.thunderbird.net - including automated updates.
