Is #lang dssl2 declaring all its info the right way?

I'm trying to pin down an issue on my system. When I use #lang dssl2 in emacs w/either racket-mode or racket-hash-lang-mode, the outputs don't get printed nicely, I instead see their sexp struct representation. The repl also refuses DSSL2 input. Something as simple as 5 yields a syntax error.

I can work with other non-sexp language files like #lang algol60 and #lang datalog, so I'm wondering if there's something about dssl2 in particular.

There's something strange with the way DSSL2 print, which I don't fully understand (Jesse wrote that code).
What you describe sounds like something we had encountered when printing values in auto-grading reports (which involve running DSSL2 code from inside a sandbox, maybe a similar situation).

The solution to that is in commit 4db8f of the 214-materials repo (private, but you have access).
But it's weird that this has to be done from outside the language; I would hope there's a way to get this right from inside the language, but I don't know how.
