Add access to interface via WIFI

I know it is SMS remote but my use-case is this: Where I live, there is not much reception. But, I would like to use the phone as a router somewhere some meters away, maybe in a tree.
For that, I would like to check the battery, switch on and off the mobile data.
I would like to do this via WIFI.

I guess, the interface should be protected with a password.

Control via WIFI is definitely out of this app's scope.
Why not controlling the phone via SMS?
