Brainstorming about the concept of creating local rules that influence the way a given city's routes are represented. For example, general complexity and type of street grid could influence a diagrammatic grid on which route lines are drawn.
Potential local rules:
- stop / station hierarchy
- primary routes hierarchy, also typology of service
- urban density scaling... Grid adapts to more dense parts of the city
- key service directions (ie in and out of urban core, circulating city...)
