Hey, Restic tends to use quite a bit of memory when backing up repos with tons of files, and 3 million files is definitely a lot in this case. You might want to try Velero for backups instead. It's much more efficient and works really well. They even switched from Restic to Kopia, which is faster and easier on system resources. |

Hi community!
I'm using k8up (Restic) to backup data on my hetzner-k3s Nodes (CPX41, 16 GB RAM).
One Project uses a 200 GB Hetzner Volume (usage at 88% in around 3M files). The nodes have a rather idle CPU usage.
The Restic backup and especially Check/Prune operations take up lots of RAM, which sometimes brings Restic and/or the node into trouble. The reason seems to be the number of files, but there is not much to optimize with Restic.
Hetzner Volumes can be attached to one Node only, so I can't offload Restic to a dedicated node.
So I'm wondering if adding something like 20 GB of Swap to the nodes would be a reasonable idea? If so, how can I configure it with hetzner-k3s?
