oot 3d hax will not work on 11.6 3ds

i have a cfw N3ds (11.2) that i use to load oothax on homebrew with. i put in the savefile for 11.6.0-39U then stuck the cart into the target N3ds. The target N3ds just reboots. I have the 3ds folder and the boot in the root of the sd card. Am i doing something wrong? Is there any other way to reach homebrew on 11.6.0-39U?

Are you using Luma? If so, what version is it on? The latter versions break those entrypoints iirc (someone with more detail can jump in), so you can basically overwrite another app to open Homebrew. The 3ds.guide uses the Download Play app, you can follow up to step 10 in Section 3 of 3ds.guide/finalizing-setup. Hope that helped?
