Description
Format Experiments (Wave 6)
Test alternative episode structures to find optimal formats for different content types.
Prerequisites
- Waves 1-5 complete (quality foundation established)
- Quality scorecard available for measurement
Experiment Framework
D2.1 - Create Experiment Documentation Template
- Hypothesis: What we're testing
- Format changes: What's different from standard
- Success metrics: How we'll evaluate
- Results: What we learned
D2.2 - Define Success Metrics
- Apply quality scorecard to experimental episodes
- Compare scores to baseline episodes
- Track listener feedback quality
- Document completion rates (if trackable)
Format Experiments
D1.1 - "Problem-First" Format
- Spend 60-70% defining the problem
- Light solution preview only
- Release separate deep-dive episodes on each sub-solution
- Best for: Complex, multi-faceted topics
D1.2 - "Practical Cluster" Format
- Front-load philosophy and research (first 60%)
- Cluster all practical advice at end (last 40%)
- Test hypothesis: Creates clearer separation and better recall
D1.3 - "Debate Structure" Format
- Design episode with intentional counterpoint
- Structure as: Statement → Challenge → Resolution
- Test hypothesis: Creates more engaging dialogue
D1.4 - "Modular Episodes" Format
- Break complex topics into 3-4 separate 15-minute episodes
- Each focuses on one aspect in depth
- Release as mini-series with clear ordering
- Best for: Topics that warrant deep exploration
Success Criteria
- 3 consecutive experimental episodes score 4+ on targeted dimensions
- Clear documentation of what works vs. standard format
- Findings integrated into workflow guidance
