Sorting index

I'm running Amanda 3.5.1 on Rocky Linux 8.10, and I'm getting good backups (I think) but I can't restore. It appears I'm having an issue sorting the index files, currently they are listed as unsorted and when I attempt a restore it's creating a new file but the sort is failing to write. I've tried adding sort-index to my amanda.conf but that's failing when I run amcheck. Is there a way to default to sorting index files when I'm running backup jobs?

You are not giving us very much information. Why is the sort failing to write? What is the exact error you get with amcheck?
