TerminalChad v0.3.3-2026

Warning

TerminalChad Installer is only published to win-86 processors. If you have any other processor, please download an older version of an installer from the full releases tab. All installers still install the latest version of TerminalChad, so there is no need to worry about not having the latest features. If an older installer does not exist for your processor architecture, please clone the repository, go to the src folder, open the solution and compile it. It will require dotnet 8.0 to be installed.

Dependencies

All Dependencies should automatically install via the installer, so you can skip this unless you are having issues with the installer.

  • Oh-My-Posh (This will automatically install, if it doesn't please fallback to downloading oh my posh using winget)

Dependencies automatically install in the latest installer, there is no need to download dotnet unless you are having issues!

  • Dot Net 8.0 Run Time

Download DotNet for Windows, MacOS, & Linux: Download DotNet 8.0.101

Note: Downloading any other version of DotNet will cause the application to not work.

Installation

  1. First select from the installer versions from the attached file. If you are completely unsure, win_x86.
  2. Run the downloaded application.

If a popup appears called 'Windows Protects Your PC' click 'more info', then 'run anyway'

  1. Follow the installation steps in the installer. It is recommended that you say yes to everything as this will allow for the best experience.

The modern installer is built with InstallerJazz, if you have any issues with the installer try the legacy installer first. Once the InstallerJazz installer is fully tested the legacy installer will be removed.

Known Bugs

Due to policy relationship changes with how Windows Terminal interacts with Powershell, you need to do a quick step to enable the startup text.

  1. Navigate to you appdata/roaming folder and find the terminalchad folder. Inside the base directory, find config.json, and modify UseOldTitler to say true. Once that is done, the start up text should work again.
