I like to improve presentations/desktop sharing in a way that starting presentation doesn’t replace webcam stream but becomes secondary stream and other participants will see both presentation and the speaker video.

Example:

  • User A joins a Jitsi Meet conference.
  • User B joins the same Jitsi Meet conference. Users A and B see and hear each other
  • user A opens a new browser tab or opens second browser (like first link in Chrome and second in Chrome Canary) and joins the same conference with audio (mic + speakers) muted
  • Now this new participant starts desktop sharing:
User B sees both user A video and user A shared screen. Shared screen is not automatically “important” as it’s muted. User B needs to click the presentation to make presentation large and user A video to become small in film strip.

It should work in user-friendly way without opening secondary tab/browser. Another part that isn’t user friendly is on receiver side as this muted sharing only-stream is not linked to user. It doesn’t become automatically large.
