Polytoria Community Verify has been around for a while, and fetch was released around the time that we started this source. As time has progressed, fetch has become a better alternative than Axios as it's natively integrated with node.js and doesn't require an external dependency.
The reason for this sudden switch is that Axios is currently blocked by Polytoria, however, fetch bypasses Cloudflare and can access Polytoria.
