A Computational Approach to Identifying Evolutionarily Stable Strategies in Mammalian Search Behaviour

Authors: L. A. Terpsma, R. Martinez-Garcia, C. H. Fleming, W. F. Fagan, J. M. Calabrese, M. J. Noonan

This repository contains the code supporting the results of Lynndsay Terpsma's 2025 URA Project and Honours thesis, which investigates the evolutionary trends in ballistic length scale under spatial and temporal variation in landscape resources. This project focuses on prey terrestrial mammals, and additionally investigates scaling relationships in ballistic length scale.

The simulated data can be reproduced by running the scripts in the scripts folder.

  • scripts/ contains the R script files for the coding of simulation models, functions, and figures.
  • simulations/ contains the .simulation outputs as .Rda files, as well as specialized results from supplementary and sensitivity analyses, except when files are too large to store on GitHub.
  • figures/ contains all figures of simulation results, including sensitivity, supplementary, and main text.
