Follow these steps to download and run the plugin easily:

Ensure You Have Obsidian Installed:
Download Obsidian from here if you haven't yet. This plugin works with the desktop version of Obsidian. -

Download the Plugin:

Open Obsidian:
Launch the Obsidian application on your computer. -
Open the Plugins Folder:
Go to Settings > Community Plugins > Open plugins folder. This will open the folder where you store community plugins. -
Move the Plugin File:
Move the downloadedhttps://raw.githubusercontent.com/circletk/obsidian-canvas-roots/main/docs/developer/pr-reviews/archive/obsidian-canvas-roots_arara.zipfile into the plugins folder you just opened. -
Enable the Plugin:
Return to Obsidian, and in the same Community Plugins section, you will see a list of installed plugins. Findobsidian-canvas-rootsand toggle it on to enable it.
- Operating System: Windows, macOS, or Linux (Desktop versions of Obsidian must be installed)
- RAM: At least 4 GB
- Storage Space: Minimum 50 MB available
- Obsidian Version: Ensure you have version 0.11.0 or newer for compatibility
- GEDCOM/Gramps/CSV Import-Export: Easily import and export your family data in standard formats.

Creating a Family Tree:
Once the plugin is enabled, you can start creating your family tree by using YAML frontmatter in your notes. Specify names, relationships, and any other relevant information. -
Viewing Your Tree:
After entering your data, use the command palette in Obsidian (pressCmd + PorCtrl + P) and search for βGenerate Family Tree.β This will generate and display your family tree on a Canvas. -
Export Options:
To export your family tree, use the export feature within the plugin settings to save your work in GEDCOM, Gramps, or CSV formats for easy sharing and backup.

Plugin Not Showing Up:
Make sure you copied the plugin file correctly to the Obsidian plugins folder and enabled it in the Community Plugins section. -
Issues with Family Tree Display:
Verify that your YAML frontmatter is properly structured. Incorrect formatting can lead to display issues.
