PlaybackStateData updates were not sent to the watch during uninterrupted playback because the playback state in this case is only updated when one song ends and another one starts, so it always looked like (state=Playing, trackPosMs=0, ...), and MutableStateFlow does not emit the new value if it's equal to the previous one. I replaced it with a MutableSharedFlow with similar properties but without unwanted deduplication
