From Construction Management to Cybersecurity Engineering

In 2020, I made a calculated career change from construction project management to cybersecurity. With zero coding experience, I taught myself programming and earned my B.A.S. in Cyber Operations from the University of Arizona (summa cum laude, 4.0 GPA). Now pursuing my M.S. in Computer Science - Cyber Operations at Dakota State University.

🚀 The Journey (2020-Present)

2020-2021: Started UCF's Full-Stack Web Development bootcamp (MERN stack) and enrolled at SNHU
2021-2023: Taught coding while learning - bootcamp grader (edX/2U)
2023-2025: Transferred to UA for a deep dive into systems programming (C), security (NSA Cyber Ops program), and automation (Rust) while tutoring students in Python
2025-Present: Founded Defend I.T. Solutions - applying everything I've learned to real client problems
2026-Present: Started M.S. in Computer Science - Cyber Operations at Dakota State University

This GitHub represents 5 years of continuous learning - bootcamp projects, coursework, personal experiments, and production systems. Every repo is a step in the journey from "never wrote code" to "building secure, automated infrastructure."

💼 What I Do Now

  • Security Engineering: Network hardening, SIEM deployment, vulnerability assessment
  • Infrastructure Automation: Proxmox, OPNsense, VPN architecture, deployment tooling
  • Full-Stack Development: React/Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, production web applications
  • Systems Programming: C, Rust, low-level security tooling

🔧 Currently Building

  • Rust-based security automation tools (0xDL, pveauto)
  • SOHO security appliance framework (SAFE-PC)
  • Client solutions at Defend I.T. Solutions
