Hi,

I don't want it to be merged in master.

This pull request is more to tell the Owl community that the pedal can be overclocked.

I want also to get feedback if I am doing it correctly.

Regards,

This is so cool Julien!
Have you found any negative effects from overclocking? Heat, or USB problems?

Hi,

Heat

  • Pedal case is still closed, I have not opened it, I have no idea if temperature is increasing abnormally. According to some blogs I have read to overclock the microcontroller, it does not overheat.
  • I am using the pedal for a maximum of 3 to 4 hours, for rehearsals, I have not noticed it getting hot when touching it with my hands.
  • I have the pedal for about a month or 2...

USB

  • I took time to read (and re read) some blogs on overclocking in order to preserve bus clock rate, some people were describing problems with USB when trying to change it.
  • I didn't want to alter audio sampling rate too.
  • all in all, I have not detected problems with USB, OwlControl runs smoothly, OwlWare update with the dfu also.

Last but not least,
I am hearing some (very few, maybe 1 or 2 "krks" every 20-30 seconds) glitches and hiccups with low buffer size (8 and 16, I cannot go at 4 or 2, the patch is consuming too much CPU) when running my impulse response of 900 taps at around 90% CPU.
But I don't care because it runs so well at 32 !
