This PR should not be merged into the 6.1.x branch. Instead, the 6.2.x branch should remain. So I have marked this as a draft PR.

I have released Plone 6.2.0a1. Not announced yet, but https://dist.plone.org/release/6.2.0a1/ is there.

I did not try docker locally.

We may want to upgrade Python to 3.13.

BTW, the readme mentions the nightly Docker build, but the link points to the 6.0.x branch, and the last nightly build was 9 months ago. That may need some updates.

I am hoping someone else wants to take the lead here. :-)

I will review this more carefully tomorrow if someone else doesn't get to it first.

I updated to Python 3.13, built the images locally, and confirmed the plone/plone-backend image starts. I think this is ready from my perspective.

No one has complained about the missing nightly images and they were not up to date anyway; I think we should just stop providing them. I removed the mention in the README.

Thanks David.

So, what do we need to do to get this on Docker hub? I think:

  • Close this PR, as it should not be merged into 6.1.x.
  • Keep the 6.2.x branch.
  • Run make towncrier to update the changelog and make commit-and-release to push the tag.

Am I missing something?

Ah, we need to update some branch names in the GHA workflows. Done.

I have tagged v6.2.0a1. Should be on its way to Docker hub now.
