Inscribe 0.1.1 — Hotfix

Added .deb and .rpm package - They don't support updates yet!

Fixes

  • Grey/blank window on some systems (e.g. Kali + nouveau/WebKit).
    • Forces software GL and disables problematic WebKit compositing paths.
  • More robust startup on minimal installs; clearer error handling.

Improvements

  • New runtime dependency checker and one-click installer (apt-based distros):
    • Checks for: webkit2gtk, gtk3, libsoup3, appindicator, pkexec, udisks2, sgdisk, mkfs.vfat, mkfs.exfat, mkfs.ntfs, etc.
    • Settings → “Check dependencies” / “Install missing”.
  • Setup section now groups “Re‑run setup” with dependency tools.

Notes

  • AppImage: write to a user‑writable location (e.g. ~/Downloads) for the in‑app updater to replace itself.
  • If you’re on a non‑Debian/Ubuntu family distro, install equivalent packages via your package manager.

Update paths

  • From 0.1.0: open the app and click “Update”.
  • Fresh install: download the attached AppImage, then:
chmod +x Inscribe_0.1.1_amd64.AppImage
./Inscribe_0.1.1_amd64.AppImage

Highlights

  • Flash ISOs to USB with smooth live progress and MB/s
  • Secure erase: auto, zero‑fill, random, blkdiscard, wipefs
  • Quick format: ext4, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS (with label)
  • Presets + optional SHA‑256 verification
  • Safety defaults: hide internal/system disks
  • One‑time privilege setup (no repeated prompts)

Download

  • AppImage attached to this release
chmod +x Inscribe_0.1.0_amd64.AppImage
./Inscribe_0.1.0_amd64.AppImage

Notes

  • Platform: Linux (AppImage). Recommended CLI tools: dd, sgdisk, wipefs, blkdiscard, partprobe, mkfs.vfat, mkfs.exfat, mkfs.ntfs, pkexec.
  • Update: Built‑in “Update” button is included; it will be exercised with the next release.
  • Data safety: flashing/erasing destroys data on the selected drive — double‑check the target.
  • Roadmap: ongoing development and further updates planned.
