This is a multiplayer game, where two team of different characters try to destroy the enemy core, just like a MOBA. The exception is that this game is 2D, and you have to build a tower in order to protect your core and have a vantage point to attack the enemy team.
The map is a 2D, flat zone symmetrically divided. At the edges, there are the respawn points of the respective team. Closer to the center, there is a space to build a tower, in a grid of squared blocks (3 blocks of width). The structure is close to the following:
(spawn)....[][][]....|....[][][]....(spawn)
where [] is a "tile" of the grid, and | is the map center.
The main objective of the game in order to win is to destroy the enemy core, which is more specifically an Orb which has to be protected and keep inside your own team. The orb, or core, is not just a static element waiting to be destroyed: you can move it around, and most importantly, it also powers your structures at its height and those below. In this way, the players are intrinsically forced to move it always on the top of their structures, when they think the last floor is ready to be used.
As you might have guessed from the above paragraph, your team has to build too. Each team has at its disposal a set of building blocks, or rooms, each with its own function, that occupy exactly one square on an invisible grid that is 3 block wide on your side of the map.
Each block has its own cost and function. Most of them are common to all players, while each character has its own personal block(s). Some blocks don't have a limit on how many can be placed, while some are unique and can be placed only once.
When placing a block, it will be ready after a short timer (3-7s), but it won't work unless its powered by the core. For a block, to be powered by the core simply means that the core has to be placed in a room at least at the same (vertical) level.
Blocks can have different functions: they can heal, provide access to greater heights (ladders, trampolines), unlock new abilities or improve already unlocked ones, deal damage to players or enemy structures, and spawn minions that will help your team secure the win or gather resource.
When a block is destroyed, the blocks on the same column about it will slide down like in Tetris.
Each player has to choose a character with unique abilities. Characters are divided in classes, but not in strict roles.
When a player dies, it respawn later on the respawn point of your team, which is usually on the opposite point from the enemy base. The furthest you die in enemy territory, the higher your respawn timer is.
Player can die by taking damage of any sort, fall damage too.
Each time your tower reach a certain height you unlock new blocks that if built can provide your team with new abilities. In this way, progressing towards late game is also moving the battle vertically.
Blocks can be built during a match by paying a price in resources, which can be gathered on the map, automatically accumulated during time, stolen from your enemy or awarded on kills.
The resources have initially a very low cap, that can be raised by placing the appropriate block (a deposit).
