Thinking about env var inheritance: is this something you can set at the top level/calling workflow as its own env block? Setting GIT_TRACE for all commands probabl doesn't hurt, does it?

I don't know if we want this option or not, but I think it's quite helpful. If desired, I can also add an input to the other workflows.
