Especially in fast suites like JS, this seems to cause tests to fail intermittently.

Summary of Changes

Hello @toddbaert, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces a critical fix to prevent a race condition during the shutdown of the flagd process. By adding a structured wait mechanism with a timeout after sending a kill signal, it ensures that the flagd process has fully terminated before its associated command object is cleared, thereby enhancing the reliability and stability of the application's process management.

Highlights

  • Process Termination: Implemented a robust process termination mechanism for flagd by adding a wait with a 5-second timeout after sending a kill signal, ensuring the process fully exits.
  • Race Condition Fix: Addresses a potential race condition where flagdCmd could be set to nil before the flagd process had completely terminated, improving stability during shutdown.

Code Review

This pull request addresses a race condition when stopping the flagd process by introducing a wait with a timeout to ensure the process has fully terminated. The approach is solid. My feedback includes a couple of suggestions to enhance the robustness and maintainability of the new code by handling a potential error case and extracting a magic number into a constant.
